Roadmap

Where this stands, honestly.

InmateCrypto is a concept today. These are the steps between here and a service families can use. There are no dates yet, and this page will change as each step happens or does not.

  1. Now

    Concept

The brand, this site, the product design and a waitlist. The goal of this step is to hear from families, advocates, facilities, payment providers and investors about what would actually help.

  2. Next

    Funding or a new owner

Bring in investment, or hand the project and domain to a buyer with the means to build it.

  3. Next

    Legal review and licensing

Work with lawyers on money transmission, payment and consumer rules, which differ from state to state. Choose licensed partners to hold and move funds. Nothing launches without them.

  4. Next

    Provider partnerships

Talk with existing inmate payment providers, such as JPay and others, about accepting transfers from InmateCrypto. There are no partnerships today.

  5. Later, if approved

    Pilot

A limited pilot with one licensed partner and a small number of facilities, with real families giving feedback.

  6. Planned

    Project coin

A dollar-tracking project coin for moving support, only once the legal and licensing work allows it.

  7. Possible future feature, subject to law

    Optional investing

An optional way for a wallet to hold other established cryptocurrencies, only where the law allows it, only through licensed partners and only with clear risk warnings.

If a step does not work out, it will say so here plainly.
